Animal Services
The Animal Services Division is operated under the direction of the Thomas County Sheriff's Office.
Our Animal Services Officers pick up sick, injured, or stray animals, investigate complaints of
abuse or neglect, quarantine animals, and adopt them out.
***We do not accept animals surrendered by their owners***
The men and women of the TCSO Animal Services Division are dedicated and responsible for protecting public health and safety by enforcing local, state, and federal laws and regulations for domesticate animals and their care in the unincorporated areas of the county.
Animal Services employs four full-time Animal Control Officers. Officers receive formal & specialized training in animal behavior and handling, cruelty investigations, humane animal disaster response, and other related areas.
Duties & Responsibilities:
• Coordinate information regarding lost or found animals.
• Primary enforcement of Georgia Law animal control laws and related Thomas County ordinances. Includes responding to calls in the field regarding animal cruelty/neglect, animal bites, dangerous dogs, injured animals, dogs running at large, and strays.
• Provide loving, compassionate care for all the animals that enter our facility.
• Respond to citizen requests regarding animal-related problems.
• Work to find appropriate homes for our animals through adoption and rescue.
Animal Services' daily operations are handled five days a week, between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm. If you need immediate assistance after hours, please call Thomas County Dispatch so they can reach an Animal Service Officer.

Please note, the Animal Service Officers do not respond to calls about animals running at large, strays, barking dogs, or owner surrenders after hours. These calls are handled the following business day. Please call 911 immediately for any emergency involving serious injuries or death.
