Hire Off Duty Officer
You may request to hire Thomas County Deputies for security for those that may
need extra security for different events or court orders etc.
RESTRICTIONS
◆ Deputies are prohibited from off-duty law enforcement employment outside the boundaries of Thomas County.
◆ Deputies are prohibited from off-duty law enforcement employment directly for, or on behalf of, an establishment that is licensed for or provides adult entertainment.
◆ Deputies are prohibited from off-duty law enforcement employment in an establishment that the primary function is serving alcoholic beverages.
◆ Additional restrictions and policies may be applicable for approval of employing an off-duty deputy.
RATES
▶ The current rate is $40 per hour, per deputy, with a four-hour minimum.
▶ There may be additional charges for holidays and emergency requests made less than 48 hours from time of requested service.
▶ In order to efficiently respond to requests for, and manage employment of off-duty deputy sheriffs, the Thomas County Sheriff's Office provides services related to hiring off-duty deputies. For the purpose of events needing security, security that on-duty deputies don't have the staffing for, etc.
