The Thomas County Sheriff's Office has open position for evidence clerk. Please read the following:
Job Summary: Receives direct supervision from the Captain overseeing the Criminal Investigations Division. Inventories, coordinates and maintains control over evidence submitted by the Thomasville Police Department, Thomas County Sheriff's Office, Georgia State Patrol and Georgia Bureau of Investigations. You will be working with the evidence clerk employed by the Thomasville Police Department.
Essential Job Functions: Receive evidentiary maters and property. Perform inventory control of all evidence, including presentation of the evidence in court to document chain of evidence if required. Perform computer entry and computer analysis of evidence/property files. You will be responsible for performing daily searches of files versus stolen/recovered reports for possible matches. Prepare material and documents to facilitate sales and auctions of property. Assists Criminal Investigations Division, Narcotics Division and Administration Division as necessary in order to maintain files to meet internal and accreditation standards. Responsible for typing, filing, answering phones. May be required to present information in clear written form.
Qualifications: Must be a high school graduate or equivalent. Should have good oral and written communication skills. Should be able to use and understand computer entry and work programs. Should be able to type, file and be capable of using standard office equipment. Should have 2-3 years previous experience in related type work.
Physical/Mental Demands: This position classifies the physical exertion requirements as sedentary work involving lifting no more than 10 pounds at a time and occasionally lifting or carrying articles like any/all evidence collected for evidentiary purposes, docket files, ledgers, and small tools. Although a sedentary job is defined as one which involves sitting, a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required occasionally, and other sedentary criteria are met.
Working Conditions: General office setting: frequent interruptions and many deadlines to meet.
