Watchful Eye

The Thomas County Sheriff's Office conducted a special operation, 'Watchful Eye', during the week of September 22-28, 2025.  This operation is a focus on registered sex offenders within Thomas County who are no longer on a probation or parole status.  Furthermore, this is part of a statewide plan to verify the residences for sex offenders and to ensure those offenders are in compliance with standards and restrictions placed on those offenders.

During this week, checklists for 40 offenders, randomly selected, were disseminated among the Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations, Narcotics/Vice Division and Patrol Deputies.  This operation was a success and has led to a small portion of the offenders to be investigated further.

Throughout the State of Georgia, it is the responsibility of each County Sheriff to provide the monitoring of every registered sex offender for compliance.  Sheriff Tim Watkins is passionate regarding this issue as the Thomas County Sheriff's Office wants to protect its citizens from sexual abuse.
